There might be thousands of reasons to visit Regensburg, but we definitely offer the best one to you Swing Dancers to visit our historic city in the merry month of May!
Located in the east of Bavaria, Regensburg is often called the most northern city of „Bella Italia“. You can’t deny the similarities after having some ice cream or espresso on one of the medieval Piazzas. Fancy the more traditional bavarian way of life? Visit a Biergarten down by the riverside.
We cannot wait to spend the weekend with you dancing, listening to fine music, and improving our skills together, but most of all we are excited to meet you here in Regensburg!
The third Regensburg Lindy Exchange officially starts on Thursday afternoon – a bank holiday, also Father’s Day – and it ends on Sunday afternoon. Thus, we have a „long“ weekend full of Fun, Socializing, Sightseeing, and Dancing!

Welcome to Regensburg Lindy Exchange 2020!
Our first meeting point is located at the Neupfarrplatz: What the Kiosk? A Kiosk is known as a small shop offering newspapers, sweets, drinks, and cigarettes. At this particular Kiosk, you can also buy some handcrafted products from local artists, and they definitely serve one of Regensburg’s best Espressi. If you’re not the biggest coffee lover, ask for a Gewara lemonade – a local and delicious choice. Have a drink, a chat, and of course a dance with all the other participants.
We will be there to give out your tickets and answer all questions. Nice to meet you!
Guided City Tour and Outdoor Dancing
Regensburg with its medieval old town has lots of interesting places and sites to visit. Join the professionally Guided City Tour on Thursday afternoon and see where the people lived, danced, and played music back in those days! The city tour starts at the Kiosk on Neupfarrplatz and is in English, it takes about 90 minutes.
After the official tour, we cordially invite you to dance with us on the historic streets, places, and bridges!
Thursday Party – The Swinging Sounds
A night at the Tiki Beat Bar & Club – but be sure you don’t have to dance Hula all night long…
This Tiki Bar is one the local Hot Spots for Swing Dancing with its regular events and parties. Just the right place to warm up and start into our Lindy Exchange weekend! Our DJs play the Swinging Sounds for you to heat up your feet!
The admission to this party is free!
Have you ever heard of the so called Bayerische Gemütlichkeit? That’s what our Friday morning get-together is all about. Have a smooth start into a day full of swing dancing with some nice coffee, bavarian pretzels and Weißwurst (or vegetarian alternative) in one of Regensburg’s most popular Cafés. To wrap up the package, our good friend and talented musician Kevin will bring his guitar and play some tunes. Why not try a first dance?
Easy like Friday morning…
Please note: The event itself is free and an optional choice. If you are interested and intend to come, please let us know in the registration form for planning reasons. In case you change your mind later, feel free to skip it or just swing by.
Coffee Special: Rehorik Roastery Tour
Whether it comes to Dancing or Coffee: sometimes the small details will make the difference. It’s about devotion and the ambition to always try your best.
Rehorik is a family owned business in it’s fourth generation and is widely known for their outstanding coffee. The roastery is located in the city center and we’re more than happy to offer you a tour. Learn all about coffee, where it’s from and how it’s produced and, of course, have a taste!
Please note: A tour takes about 60 Minutes and is limited to 10 participants, that’s why we offer four tours at different times of the day. Choose your preferred time in the registration form, we will try to manage it and also balance the tours.
Collegiate Shag Workshop
We are more than happy to offer Collegiate Shag Workshop Classes in addition to our Lindy track for the first time. Our local Shag scene is constantly growing and excited to meet you Shag dancers from all different places to have a workshop in intimate atmosphere, led by our Innsbruck friends Juls and Sirom.
Just like the Lindy Workshop, the focus is on useful social dance and fun topics. You go through these topics together step by step and work them out. This Workshop includes 3 hours of classes and is held in English.
The Taster Class is held before the Friday Party at the Dance Studio. Be excited what Sara and William are planning for you to temper your mind and feet for a swingy and bluesy night!
Friday Party – Swing’n’Blues
Enjoy a night dedicated to Swing’n’Blues!
According to this motto, the busking Andis Bluesorchester with their Pre-War Blues, Ragtime and String Band sound play their remarkable tunes like in a Juke Joint. Our DJs take care that danceable music never stops!
Let’s Swing’n’Blues all the night long at the Degginger!
Lindy Hop Workshop
Sara’s and William’s classes add even more fun to your personal dancing by showing you tips and tricks how to dance with the right flow and coolness according to the music, and adding fun and easy stuff to your social dancing repertoire.
This workshop is in English, and includes 4,5 hours of classes, so there is enough time to have lunch, water and coffee breaks, to chill out, and have some chats, dances, and fun with the other participants.
Extra Lindy Hop Workshop
Due to the high demand, we are setting up an additional 3 hour Lindy Hop workshop for all who haven’t had the chance to register so far.
This smaller workshop is held by Hanna and Antonia.
Saturday Party – That Hot Jazz
Another night at the Degginger – but this time dedicated to That Hot Jazz!
The phantastic Rufus Temple Orchestra heats you up with their repertoire of Hot Jazz and early Swing Sounds. They will play for us the whole night long, and – if the musicians have to take a break – the DJs continue to play the music we all love to dance to!
Prepare also for a Teachers‘ Showcase and Competitions with great prizes!
You have danced that weekend at the parties, the workshops, and all over the city, you don’t want to stop on Sunday, but you feel hungry? No worries, the Sunday Swing Brunch gives you both, delicious food and the opportunity to keep on dancing! The Degginger team offers a regional buffet and the DJs keep you in the right mood.
Swinging like Sunday morning!
Prefer sleeping in? Don’t worry! We continue to dance directly after the Swing Brunch, and in case you are (still) hungry, have a Pizza from the Degginger pizza oven. We also can have a little dance outside if the wheather is nice.
Unfortunately the german saying „alles hat ein Ende nur die Wurst hat zwei“ is true and we have to say goodbye to you at some point. (It means „everything has got an ending, only a sausage got two“, Germans and sausages, long story…). That’s why we ask all of you to gather for a group picture and one last dance with your new made friends. Let’s exchange numbers, tell us what you liked and enjoyed most, and then dance your way home with a smile on your face.
See you next year!
Even More Activities
Craft Beer Festival
The Regensburg Craft Beer Festival takes place at the Neupfarrplatz from 20.05. – 22.05.2020. The festival offers the opportunity to get introduced to more than 50 different Craft Beer styles and to learn about beer as cultural asset and heritage.
Live bands and food trucks complete the festival feeling – often very danceable…
It is one of the most classical tourist activities around Regensburg: A tour to the Walhalla on Sunday!
A trip by boat is really nice, however, you have to climb quite a lot of stairs to finally get to the Walhalla. You can also go there by car and skip most of the stairs. However, once upstairs you can enjoy the fantastic view – and in case someone brings music, why not dance? Or what about a group picture with this great scenery?
